that Canada is engaged in high-level discussions with the United States regarding participation in President Donald Trump's proposed "Golden Dome" missile defense system.  

The "Golden Dome" is an ambitious $175 billion initiative aimed at creating a comprehensive missile defense shield to protect against emerging threats, including hypersonic and space-launched missiles.  The system plans to deploy space-based sensors and interceptors, marking a notable advancement in defense technology.  

Prime Minister Carney emphasized the importance of such a defense initiative to ensure the safety of Canadians, especially in light of evolving global threats.  While discussions are ongoing, Carney has not disclosed specific financial commitments that Canada might make toward the project.
