21 मई 2025 को वाशिंगटन, डी.सी. में एक दुखद घटना में दो इज़राइली दूतावास कर्मचारियों की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई।  यह हमला कैपिटल ज्यूइश म्यूज़ियम के बाहर हुआ, जहाँ दोनों पीड़ित—एक पुरुष और एक महिला—एक यहूदी पेशेवर नेटवर्किंग कार्यक्रम में भाग लेने के बाद बाहर निकल रहे थे।  पीड़ितों की पहचान एक जोड़े के रूप में हुई है जो जल्द ही सगाई करने की योजना बना रहे थे।  हमलावर, 30 वर्षीय एलियास रोड्रिगेज, शिकागो निवासी, को घटनास्थल पर ही गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।  गिरफ्तारी के समय उसने "फ्री, फ्री फिलिस्तीन" का नारा लगाया, जिससे इस हमले के पीछे संभावित राजनीतिक या वैचारिक प्रेरणा की आशंका जताई जा रही है।  

इस हमले की अमेरिकी और इज़राइली नेताओं ने कड़ी निंदा की है।  इज़राइली राष्ट्रपति इसहाक हर्ज़ोग और प्रधानमंत्री बेंजामिन नेतन्याहू ने इसे एक घृणित और यहूदी विरोधी कृत्य बताया।  अमेरिकी अधिकारियों, जिनमें होमलैंड सिक्योरिटी सचिव क्रिस्टी नोएम और एफबीआई निदेशक काश पटेल शामिल हैं, ने भी इस घटना की निंदा की और जांच में पूर्ण सहयोग का आश्वासन दिया।

On May 21, 2025, two Israeli embassy employees were shot and killed in a tragic incident in Washington, D.C. The attack occurred outside the Capitol Jewish Museum, where the two victims—a man and a woman—were leaving after attending a Jewish professional networking event. The victims have been identified as a couple who were planning to get engaged soon. The attacker, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez, a Chicago resident, was arrested at the scene. He shouted "Free, Free Palestine" during his arrest, raising suspicion of a possible political or ideological motivation behind the attack.

The attack has been strongly condemned by American and Israeli leaders. Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called it a despicable and anti-Semitic act. US officials, including Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and 

FBI Director Kash Patel, also condemned the incident and assured full cooperation in the investigation.
